I got home yesterday to find all my lettuce and brassicas shriveled up, I watered them well, do you think they will grow back?

Keep your fingers crossed but (if you can do it with crossed fingers) I'd sow some more seed for later  ;)

whew! tell me about it Davy boy! I weeded the whole 10 poles! Bout to go back down there, but not before I enjoy a plate of pasta and a bottle of Tanglefoot - oh no mate, it's not Fursty Ferret every time!
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Finally planted out my tomatoes. Dug up the swiss chard from last year that was going to seed(more for the compost bin) and dug over their bed, then got carried away and kept digging. At least I'll have somewhere to put the cape gooseberries and the next lot of tomatoes. Now going to have a glass of wine in the garden. :D

Put out the french climbing beans and the sweetcorn i had hardening off in the cold frame and watered all the stuff in the greenhouse. Had to take off a lot of flower heads on the onions.

Decided to have a slow day today so justy raked a few dahlia beds ready for next task and then potted up a few trays of  chillis, tomatoes, aubs and melons.

So hot here at the moment that we're having to water the dahlias twice a day and they're still dying :(

On the list to be done today:
see if spuds have decided to grow so I can earth them up
weed final bed
see if carrots have decided to grow
see if parsnips have decided to grow
plant some more peas
strim and/or weedkill the knee-high grass which I haven't managed to get on top of what with the house move.

Achieved today:
got fork and spade out of garden shed and walked halfway down the garden with them before deciding it was too hot to go down there, the ground would be too dry to work, and parking would be restricted anyway as it's race day.

Plan B for today:
Lie in the garden with radio on and eyes shut
Sit in the garden with radio on and reading new book
Have BBQ

Achieved out of Plan B:
Lie in the garden with radio on and eyes shut
Sit in the garden with radio on and reading new book
Cook burgers in kitchen (BBQ for 1 seems a bit of a waste  ::) )

It's a hard life but someone's got to do it!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

There's a lot to be said for lazy gardening on days like this Yorkie!  8)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Four hours of mowing grass on a ride-on mower at my brothers place, followed by weeding his veg plot.  Planted out my cabbages, weeded, watered, moved my competition winning giant pumpkin to it's new home, drew the plans for the hen run I am going to make and am now on here making mischief.  :)

Not bad for someone with a dicky ticker.

I did some drunken watering today. Had been to my nephews 4th birthday bash so was a bit tipsy & decided to attack the plot with a hosepipe. Think i may have got wetter than my veg.
I generaly just stick things in the ground green side up.
