Managed to get 6 rows of spuds in today, although it's still a bit sticky underfoot  ::)

I noticed on next doors plot that he has planted out his runner beans already
Bit optimistic I'd have thought  ???
Cheers, Comfortably Numb.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long ..........................

I'd just like to record that I started digging over my patch of ground (not allotment size...not sure whether that's fortunate or unfortunate :D) and dug in some home-produced compost.

AND i turned one compost bin.
AND prepared space in the glasshouse
AND sowed some seeds.

*fanfare of trumpets*

I'm making a big thing about this cos last year was a bit of a disaster with veg so i'm feeling really pleased and motivated. Yay!!!  :D

Nothing today, up all night with screaming two week old baby - so off to walk down by the river and play football with our 4year old. However whilst out today it did strike me that being outdoors is everything and how much we need our own space sometimes, although new to allotements it is fantastic to spend a quiet 1-2hours up the plot, if only tidying the goosberry bushes!!!

Wow mum of stig, those raised beds look great, where did you get those kits? were they local/reasonable?

I've managed to aquire some old planks so might have a go at edging some beds in the plot, but would love some of those raised beds!

Today I managed to get on the plot after weeks of illness between the kids and me. Anyway, less of the whinge....I finally got a row of spuds in, some Pentland Javelins (couldn't be bothered to wait for them to chit any more) and some broad beans. I know it might be a bit ambitious with the broad bean, but they were outgrowing their pots having already been potted up once. I hardened them off, so should be ok, what do you think? (slight worry as I've seen the weather is due to turn chilly this week )

Feel really pleased with the progress having felt like I've been weeding for months and months and months aaargh!

They're my raised beds Jome, mumofstig was quoting me.

I made them from Wickes pressure treated gravel boards 2.4m long.  I cut boards in half to make short sides.  Legs are pressure treated 2"x2" x 2.4m cut into 40cm lengths.  Easy peasy.

I am really aching and I only dug over the bed I plan to use for my runner beans.  Well actually the achy muscles might be due to the Bums, Tums and Legs class I did at the gym yesterday.  Me thinks that exercise on the allotment is so much more rewarding though.
