Just pottered around in the sunshine....took down the polytunnel frame......plastic cover to go to the tip, it only lasted 2 summers :(

Made all the pots into a tidy pile for washing (one day ;) ) and dug up a nettle that somehow managed to grow again, even though I thought I'd got it all last time Grrr.  :nowink:

Pulled a few turnips, carrots and a couple of (very small  :( ) swedes.............. to go in a stew for the w/end ............

In between picking children up from school, feeding and changing nappies of our new son. I managed to get to the patch for about 1 hr yesterday. Managed to plant some raspberry canes, a blackcurrant and redcurrant bush and a rhubarb crown. I am new to gardening so hopefully i have planted these at the right time. Need to have a think about crops for next year and where to plant them. Will do this over the weekend.

well today was my first proper visit, and i have grubbed up the brambles around the site stopcock, cut the hedge back a bit and dug a couple of square metres of the plot with my new azada. might pop out later and put up my pallet compost bin.

On my new 3.5 rod half plot (I now have a full 7 rods): straightened and braced the rickety shed, put up a pallete compost bin and pulled up and composted the larger weeds; leaving the smaller ones as green manure - they will stop the soil leaching over winter.

Dug several test spits and decided no point digging over so long as I map out the beds and don't walk on the growing bits from now on.

Met the plot neighbours - nice chaps. Life is good.

Put an Albert on the scarecrow's new waistcoat, had a cuppa soup, painted wood preserver on the timber for a spaghetti squash frame, and went back to check out the local market! ::)

First time on allotment today for a few weeks.  Who invited chickweed on to my patch!  Weeded between the fruit trees and the herb patch.  Really pleased with the sage I planted this year: is 10 x original size and still really healthy.  Also, several clumps of self-seeded perpetual spinach , which I don't mind at all.  A bit strong tasting, but nice free greens.   Trying to decide which maincrop spuds to grow next year. Maris piper were very scabby , not impressed at all.

Sounds as if you could do with a few of our foxes - we have spare!  ;)
