Just going out into the front garden with hubby to do lots and lots of cutting back and weeding.  Have a stick with a bottle of real ale attached to dangle in front of him as an incentive to work.  He's not a keen gardener but he can lift heavy things and he's cheap.

Just been to greenhouse - still no ripened tomatoes!  Tens of peppers though.

Are you giving them a slosh of tomato feed?

started to cut out this year's rasperry canes and tying in next year's.  A bit of hoeing. Harvested some Mange Toute and planted some lettuce and salad leaves. Finished painting the shed round the window frame - all done for winter now.

Just realised that the delicious Tayberry which i have been sampling when the branches come over my side is actually growing on my side anywway so I have a training job to do next time up there!

Bare earth paths are looking much tidier now I have black bagged all the turf I scalped off. This will be good loam in a year or so. Paths to be allowed to weed over with clover and harvested as a green manure crop.

Finished the digging, raked a bed and planted some kohlrabi, watered the leaks spring cabbage and courgette. Finished hoeing the paths and collected up all the rubbish.

I have also started marking out the beds, just at the tapping in canes stage at the moment as things look different in real life than they do on a computer screen.

Buckets of the stuff.  Good news though, since this morning one tomato has actually ripened!!!!  Sharing it between the three of us later!

Planted out the leeks, late I know but nothing ventured nothing gained.  Also planted out the saffron crocuses (or is that croci ).
Small helper potted up some runners for me once the wasps had left the strawberry patch.
Dug up one of each main crop type and was dissapointed.

cutting blighted potato haulms down, luckily most have finished so should still have a good crop. Catriona has been first and worst, Maxine seems unaffected so far, so sprayed with horstail solution and crossed fingers, first sign and they will be down. Another variety, possibly Desiree (lost label) also down AND first one dug was ravaged by slugs (grown under ground cover with seepy hose system, maybe that was a bad idea).
