I built a marvellous cold frame over the weekend and it only cost me £3.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Planted 50 red and 50 white onion sets, sowed two rows peas, 2 rows carrots interspersed with spring onions, 1of beetroot, raked over another bed ready for tomorrow.
Moved my cabbage, sprouts and cauliflower to the cold frame and got some pots of compost ready for my basil and chilli peppers to go in tomorrow.

On the plot for 6am to let the ladies out, scooped the poop. Went to bed till 9am then back on to clean the coop and run, fresh bedding etc then some light work preparing the spud bed, all nice and fluffy now.
Sowed some pak choi and some alto beetroot.
Fixed the muck heap, side wall came away from the post.
Chatted and put the world to right, had dinner and back on for a chat with the ladies and treated them to some live yoghurt.
Weeded the starwberry bed.
Put the ladies to bed
That was my 12 hour day today on the plot!

Didn't get to the allotment today, wife was extremly stressed with our 5day old son :-(, but....did manage to sort out the shed, garage and gather up all available canes, tools etc ready to take up tomorrow. Did go up last weekend though and dug over a fifth of the plot ready for broad bean sowing tomorrow. Then to prepare another strip for onion sets later this week. in the meantime i'm trying to convince our 4year old son to make a set of compost bins with me and not to hammer daddy's finger beacuse its fun! :nowink:

Took my generator and garden hoover to the local rec., sucked up and shredded a huge amount of beech leaves. About 3m3 of finished article. Created a heap in an unused bit of the plot under some trees where they'll stay for a year or two. Then lots of lovely leaf mould.

I dug bean trenches and filled with semi-rotten compost when the fresh stuff ran out. That bed is now perfect....lots of stuff dug in as well...like making pastry, i can gently crumble any lumps with my fingers.....oh! the joy of muck under my nails again!
However I think the sun's affecting me......

On Sunday digging for 3hrs and emptied my compost bin and them turned over the contents of the bin, then refilled it with the turned over contents. Today just did some digging for a hour and covered one plot with cardboard to warm up the soil getting it ready for my peas and french beans.

My allotment on Sunday

Spent the morning at the plot, broad beans sown, gooseberry bushes attended to and raspberry canes given TLC and new supports. Also tided up shed area and measured up for compost bins.

Onion patch dug over and ready for compost/fertilizer. Aim to start digging over the potatoe area later this week if time allows.

I went down today with the intention of digging a couple more potato trenches (which I did), but the warm sunshine hoodwinked me into sowing a row of parsnip seeds and 200 onion sets.
I know I'll probably regret it but I couldn't help myself :)
