Netted my brassica bed and my strawberry tub bow it is showing nice green berries, soon to ripen I hope.
Watered my brassicas with Nettle Tea. Smiled to myself when I heard a neighbouring plt holder comment about the drains!
A general watering and put back the guttering on the edge of the compost bin in case it should rain and I miss a drop.
Furtled for potatoes and found quite a few earlies that would have done for jackets their so big, but clean and smelling wonderful.
Took my dog for a walk for being so patient sitting under the potatoes for shade.

Hiya,

We transplanted some Romanesco caulis and the rest of the sweetcorn. We weeded loads, but the allotment looks lovely again now!

Transplanted our courgettes and squashes, now fingers crossed they like the raised bed (we filled it with 4 year old manure and covered it with a weed repressing membrane, then covered it with stones we've dug up on the allotment, fingers crosssed they'll like the warmth...

We've still got to transplant our peas and asparagus peas, and a few more caulis and then we're pretty much up to date...

Planted two cue seeds in the ground, small row of perpetual spinach, sowed 4 pots of spring onions, planted another row of Alsia Graig onions, mulched the celery and leeks.  :)

Not strictly on the allotment, I spent a good while on the sewing machine, sewing up the holes in my new lot of debris netting. That'll stop the little beggars  ;)

Pulled a few beetroot for the in-laws ( to replace the ones we were supposed to give them last week but ate  )

Had a nose at next doors plot... they've only had it a week doing well so far IMHO ;)

Sprayed some potatoes with boiled 'rhubarb leaves soup' to see if that'll sort whatever is eating them.

That was it for today - went out for lunch with said in-laws for father's day :)
Roz is my nickname...please don't hate me because I'm named after a slug :)

Managed to dig out a HUGE pile of clay that they previous tenant had piled up on the plot over the course of many years. Sooo hard to dig.

Weeded for a couple of hours which, strangely, I rather enjoy.

Sowed some more carrots and spring onions. Seems to be a bit touch and go getting the little blighters to germinate at the mo. Don't know why.

Went down to the plot early to weed and water. Picked more strawberries, dug up some FE's and picked my first cougettes, small but couldn't wait any longer. :D

Weeded and watered early morning and collected about twenty slugs all "asleep" under my slug hotels. they were transported tot he collection point for Landfill Holiday Homes.  Planted one Corgette with a deep watering pot alongside for watering and feeding.  Not a bad morning's work really.

I've just harvested my garlic - 67 bulbs and only two of them had to be discarded.  I''ve unrolled a length of chicken wire on the patio and laid them all out in the baking sun and come indoors to cool off.  I forgot to wear a hat and suncream - oops I'm going to be sorry :).

I also watered the squash and courgettes via the bottles and pots planted beside them but the rest of the watering will have to wait until sunset - I don't mind as it will be a fantastic view.  See what I mean (our allotments are behind the hedge and stretch up the hill to the right of the photo.
