Managed a load of weeding, will it never end!!!!!!! Planted out french beans and remaining runners. Looks like the Broad Beans are being attatcked by blackfly - so out with the washing up liquid  >:(

Oh and tidied up edges of plot with a spade and raked and hoed and hoed and raked......

Hubby went but I didnt. My 12 year old has just been told he has been entered for his grade 6 percussion exam in November and I cant part him from the six foot xylophone. I even tried bribary  He left the xylo twice today once to do an hour on the violin and the second time to do an hour and a half on the snare drum. I am seriously considering getting him a chair for the xylo.

He is on a serious mission with his music and that is all he wants to do. He started about 3 years ago and hasn't stopped since the further up the grades he gets the more obsessed he becomes, I suppose he is at least not in trouble.

Tomorrow I will get to the plot as I am off and he will be at school  :D

Nothing. Went to Yorkshire 20/20 game. It rained a lot, so went to the chinese in the evening. How sundays should be, relaxed.

Harvested - picked my first broad beans - enough to accompany our sunday roast - yummy, yummy.  My plants have also been sprayed with washing up liquid today to deter the pesky flies.  Also picked curly kale, a cabbage, spinach and a 4" radish!  More weeding and foulishly watered (before the heavens opened!).  Back to work on Monday.

Got there at last!

Put straw around the strawberries after I'd picked a fair few and weeded them (weed free!).
Pulled up the swiss chard as it had gone to seed - added to the compost heap.
Cut the grass paths and trimmed the edges.
Cut three small cabbage.
Hoed and hoed and hoe, hoed.

Came home as it was getting dark.
A nice end to the day...the plot visit - not the getting dark  ::)

Drenched the allotment with watering cans - felt like the sorcerer's apprentice!

Picked some lettuce for lunch and evicted about 10 slugs from my slug hotels - they are happy in the dog poo bin on the way home.

THis was at the weekend....

Cut down unruly grass, weeded, hoed, weeded, hoed, inspected the onions - no more have signs of rot as yet  :) , pulled a couple of radishes, poked around the turnips, weeded, hoed, weeded, got excited about a flower on the pepper plant, weeded. Sowed rosemary and oregano.

Going to allotment tomorrow - all four of us. Plan is to cut down more grass, weed, hoe, water where necessary, sow more radishes, weed weed weed weed and weed  ;)

Potted up some more brassicas, and 20 celery.
Not entirely connected with the allotment, but today I have built one serviceable bicycle out of three giveaways which I got on freecycle. I can now cycle the four mile round trip to my allotment instead of using the car. I'm trying to be just a little bit more green.

Brilliant!!!

I wish more people could / would cycle to the plot - ours is rapidly becoming like a B road.  :(

Ah but with a cycle trailer you can cycle right up close to your plot and then use the trailer to carry plants and tools to the exact spot instead of lugging everything from the car and back  ;)
