« on: February 27, 2010, 15:26 »
Hi I have just sown my spring planted Garlic today.
Has anyone ever planted spring Garlic before?
I have always planted the type that you sow around October so this is a first for me.

What month can i expect to harvest.
Thanks for the help, the packaging gave no harvesting advice just said sow around February or March.

I've planted my pink garlic today as well.  I've not tried the pink one before, but the normal white spring garlic is usually only 4-6 weeks behind the autumn crop, so late august/early september harvest.

I planted mine today in 7cm pots in the green house and will plant out when they are a few inches tall.  This gets them off to a good start.  I will be doing the same with my onion sets this week also.

I tried this for the first time last year.  Harvesting time said August, but I found I had to leave it until September and it was fine

I grew spring planted garlic last year which was called Sultop from Taylors. Planted it in the first week in April and harvested it in the 2nd week of August. The bulbs kept very well over winter and are still in good condition. I will probably plant some of the cloves in a few weeks time although I have some over wintered garlic growing. It will be interesting to see which grows the best.
