I know French marigolds are supposed to discourage White Fly, does this work with black fly as well ?

I think they smell peculiar so deter aphids, that's the plan. Folks use this remedy widely so there has to be something in it I suppose.  I certainly do  :D  Plus, they look gorgeous against my red cabbages  :D

I always plant some in my greenhouse and have never had any trouble with whitefly (except one year when the tagetes didn't germinate and grow very well). Can recommend it - presume it works with blackfly as I haven't seen any of those either.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

No, nor african, nor english...... only the Tagetes varieties..which are the french ones :)
Apparently the others don't smell the same to the fly

It didn't work on my purple sprouting - they were surrounded with French marigolds and still got covered in whitefly.  :(
