Early Potatoes
« on: June 28, 2006, 19:31 »
I planted these yonks ago (I know I should keep a date) and this is my 1st year of growing things. I have a planted 2 rows of early Potatoes and they are about 18-24in tall now. How do I know when to dig them up? Is there anything I look for in the plants? Or do I just dig one up and see?

Cheers

Meant to dig them once the flowers have passed blooming (I was told), but my flowers on my earlies (Duke of York) are not quite open yet and I lifted a plant and got 11 lovely new potatoes about the size of tinned meatballs (go on then; you try and think of something that size!).

nice one thanks.. only a couple of flowers on them at the moment, so I might give them another week or so and dig one up.
