Stilll not in the mood for seeds or any planting

Once it warms up they do so much better and you seem to get stronger, healthier plants so I have found no advantage to early sowings.

All ok I suppose for those with heated greenhouses or propagators.

At the moment I agree with you... too cold for me to feel like sowing seeds but it might change in a few days time..

Although - Sweet peas up in just two days from planting 24 hour soaked seeds.  ;)

There you are Learner - you have planted !! Hope the sweet peas do well.

Lidl have loads of garden stuff this week, must get a couple of those skips with handles, so useful. OH has his eye on the shredder ...... has anyone tried them and do they really do the job and break twigs etc down into compostable material ?

Blowing gales here so no outdoors for me today !  :( :(

I have only potatoes chitting.  I have brought all my seeds and drawn up a planting guide made a plan of my lotty where things are going to go.  As this will be my first year am very nervous about it all, I spent £35.00 on seeds and dont want to mess it up.  Am going out this week to buy seed compost and that white stuff beginning with v that goes on top.  I was given loads of pots, seed trays etc which I have sterilised with jeys fluid in bath.  Will get going next week, they have given it warmer here in Kent.  Oh yes DD I have brought some foil.  Regards Mandy.

Do not be nervous Mandy - most seed packets contain much more than you need so you can have at least two goes at most things.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Spuds and occa's chitting.

Chilli seeds on windowill

Garlic, shallots, onion, spring onion, garlic, redcurrants and blackcurrants  now planted on the site.

Hoping to start off the leeks (litter tray method), tomatoes and some other chillis in a couple of weeks. :)

Totally hoping the weather dries out and warms up a bit, so I can clear more of the allotment!

Nothing planted yet ,the soil is too wet to stand on .The winter planted broad beans look very dead , wonder if they will show signs of life when the weather eventually warms .The garlic planted in November is showing so pleased about that.

I have just received this from Gardeners World web site for jobs this week:

Sow seeds of the following crops outside or under cloches: carrots, beetroot, broad beans, salad onions, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, spinach, leeks, lettuce, rocket, coriander, mixed salad or stir fry leaves, radish, turnip, peas, lettuce and Swiss chard.

Crips I have only got toms on the go inside the house. Nothing in the greenhouse as its unheated. Not sure if any of the seeds will survive in the cold. I have garlic and Japanese onions that I put in the ground in autumn. Not sure if they are doing as well as they should be. Don't know what height they ought to be now. I wasn't very succesful with onions last year, but think that was due to soil, so hopefully this year will be different.
