Liverwort
« on: February 20, 2010, 11:58 »
I'm suffering from a bad attack of liverwort :( After a very wet summer last year it's taken over huge areas of the garden and it's even growing on the beds.
I've hoes it off and gone over the ground with Jeyes and a grass moss killer but it just seems to encourage it.  >:(
anyone any suggestions? (the cheaper the better! ;))
Thanks folks!

Why on earth use Jeyes?

Jeyes fluid is not licenced for use on soil, hence it is illegal to do so.

Liverworts can be killed using any proprietary moss killer. They are difficult to eradicate completely though, especially in areas which are very damp and well fertilised.

This might sound odd but are you sure these are liverworts? Do you have any ferns nearby? the reason I ask is because the first stage of the life cycle of ferns looks just like a liverwort, followed by the fronding adult reproductive stage.

Wouldn't like you to get rid of something you might want
