feather pecking
« on: February 15, 2010, 16:41 »
I have 4 speckled stars and 2 Buff Orpingtons, three of the Speckled stars take delight in pecking the feathers of any of the others who get in their way, or who just look tasty!! Any advice please as we have a couple of bald spots! They seem much less bothered about it than I am.

Two things it could be
1. Lack of space
2. Lack of minerals (feed them a supplement  cat food. NOT CHICKEN FLAVOUR.)

and if that fails you can try anti-peck bits.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
