Mine have slowed down this week also which I've put down to the cold spell returning.   After the snow it warmed up a lot and they started to lay after their complete rest from early Dec until late Jan but have now dropped off again.

Hi nuttymania have you checked to see if they are laying elsewhere? mine have been known to wander off and find strange places to hide their eggs.

HF - I have loads of eggs - all organincally fed and helped along with crushed egg shells - want some?  :tongue2:
Staffies are softer than you think.

Oh and for any newcomers reading this thread don't let Joyfull's nonsolence fool you.  Apart from being  a clever little munchkin chickenwise she employs more than organic feed and crushed egg shells to achieve such out of this world results................................the odd bats wing and poisonous toad goes in the cauldron mix too!

Nothing that happens in Lincolnshire surprises me!  :D

We've probably done enough hijacking nuttymamas thread with our inane banter.  So just to say egg production shot up yesterday (in time for the pancake making) so you won't have to drop in with the eggs on your duck rescue mission today.  Hope journey goes well, just "follow the yellow brick road".   Can't remember what munchkin I was thinking of but I'm sure there's a clue in there somewhere.

Best wishes

Still nothing :(

Then the best solution is to follow the advice given on page 79 by Madhur Jaffrey in her excellent book Indian Cookery, "Chicken in a sweet pepper sauce" my favourite curry recipy.

I had a similar thing happen last year with one of my hens.  She started laying for a few weeks and then all of a sudden stopped for a few more then started again.  I put that though down to them being in their first year.  Are your hens ex bats or pure bred?
