Mine was 5degC yesterday. Chilly enough. I didn't bother with the bottom test.

Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

You shouldn't.  Traditionally the ground is warm enough for planting if its warm enough to sit on on your bare bottom.......
