I can use 'twiggy sticks' to support just as well as canes and netting right???
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

You can I suppose, but remember they must be allowed to grow to at least 6 feet tall before pinching out the tips.  And the structure has quite a weight to hold and especially if it is windy.  Anything to flimsey will get blown down.

Why use netting , I've never bothered ,just the canes in sets of 4 tied at the top.

I always make a swing frame and string it up. This year It's two posts with and old ladder between and string for the runners to climb.

I'm not an expert yet but you don't need netting.  The stems spiral around the supports unlike peas that throw out random tendrils that need netting etc.

Canes will be fine they are tough plants
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I just copied the way one of your local 'Pick your own' places did it. It's easy to get the spacing right. Each side is 3 canes by 3 canes, one foot apart. Two feet between each wigman so you can walk all round them.

That's the theory, but the beans always seem to be jealous of the wigwam next door & head for that!
