I have a 8" high box with top of the range peat compost
under their house.... nice and dry... they lay there happy as hens..
keeps them clean.....

Two of my girls are 26 weeks today
an still not a sausage from them....
am I being too impatient ?
The days are longer an they look well
eating well....... ???

What a wonderful shock i had...
Just went down to give the girls their hot mash at 7 30
looked in the coop after... and there on the floor
was a beautiful small white egg... a beauty..ha!
hope it's in the nest box tomorrow.......so white!

great news! my girls lay white eggs  :)still not sure what they are but even though they are small their eggs are getting bigger .

Thats great news, wen mine lay on the floor i always place an egg in the nest mark it so you dont get confused which is which and it seems to make the new layers lay in the nest try it  :D

Hi! I got 8 ex batts last week and am getting 6 eggs a day, but no sausages. Have I got the wrong breed LOL ;) ;) ;)

Yes, her eggs will get bigger because she's a Leghorn/White Star and they eventually lay beautiful large/x-large white eggs regularly. Loads of character too (chicken, not egg)  Fantastic breed!

she is a bit manic Vietta... unlike the others
almost deranged sometimes' nervy
wanting to get to the food before i get to them
even bit me just now when i was giving them a old mince pie
still waiting for the sausages' :lol:

Mine was nervy and flighty to start but she's certainly calmed down a bit. Still the most naughty, intelligent and curious of my 3 though she's the bottom of the pecking order. You can tell she's my favourite, can't you!!!
