Yes the comb is meant to be floppy  :D they are beautiful, either leghorn, or white stars (which have a lot of leghorn in them). The combs get redder and redder as they get ready to lay. Dont worry if they take a while, they will probably then lay for you every day right through til next year.   :D
Pets:if you don't love them like family, don't have them

My girls are about 26/27 weeks old and they still haven't started laying yet.  Their combs look a reasonably red colour but nothing - no squats or anything.  I have 3 different Sussex, 1 Buff Rock and 1 Cuckoo Maran.  Oh well, one day  ::)
2 Springer Spaniels, 1 Speckled Sussex,  1 Cuckoo Maran, 1 Light Sussex, 1 Welsummer, 2 Barnvelders and 2 silver Pencil Wyandotes.

Is the one on the right a hen ? It stands very much like a cockerel.
The one on the left`s  comb has not coloured properly yet so you may have to wait a bit longer.

My White Star Looby-lu-lu is a real star. Once she started laying she has laid every day this year except for a few off days over the darkest days.
Don't give up! They lay eventually and your girls look in wonderful condition.

Don't be disappointed, they'll get there eventually!!!  :)

I've got a lakenvelder (Mags) who's nearly 18 months old, she's still got a liitle pink comb and she had her 1st moult  ......and she hasn't laid an egg yet!!!  But I haven't given up on her yet...she might surprise me one day!!! Fingers crossed  ::)

I think the one on the right is a girl!  Big floppy comb I know, but like IMOmimey says, looks like a Leghorn or white star and their combs do go floppy.

Some of my pure breeds are 30-40 weeks old and still haven't laid yet, so try to be patient.  I've only ever had a couple of hens that never laid an egg!!   :) :)

This is a Hisex White laying hen.  Similar comb?

Yes....they are beautifully white!
Mine has turned a muddy brown from getting wet then bathing in dirt under the fir tree. Hasn't been white for months now but seems blissfully happy being mucky!
(Cheap mud pack, anyone?)
