Advice Please!!

Hi,

I am a complete novice when it comes to almost anything green but vegetables in particular and so would appreciate some advice!!

I bought some seeds which I have dutifully planted over the last few days so too early to tell whether they'll grow, but all the packets bar one had instructions on the back so I felt I couldn't go far wrong!

The packet that didn't have instructions was the Beetroot.
Is it ok to plant this now? Does it need to be started in a seed tray or can it go straight into the ground? Does it need any special help??

I'm sorry if these questions seem a bit basic :oops: but I have never attempted to grow anything before and would appreciate any help anybody can offer!!

Sow beetroot directly into shallow drills in the ground. Half-inch deep, 3 inches between seeds. Allow 12 inches between adjacent drills. You will still need to thin since most varieties are multi-germ (each seed is actually a cluster of seeds).

You are most welcome. I forgot to say that you can transplant the thinnings (quickly) if they come out with the root system relatively intact.

And, yes, you can plant now & successionally every 2 or 3 weeks
