What is it that you are growing for showing?

How serious are you about showing, is it the village fete, the Towns garden fest. Or the really big stuff?

whats the difference between growing to show or growing to eat?

What do you do that is special, the secrets etc?

i've never grown to show, only to eat. but i do get a good laugh watching people sneaking around looking at what others are growing to show at the lottie's bar b que and veg show, later in the year.
i tell you, its a cut throat buisness it seems.......

Me too. Only for eating. Maximum flavour from a given area is the main criterion

Something makes me uncomfortable about growing for show, when there's so much hunger in the world.

Too much effort, both growing and getting any informations fro the old hands, but this book is useful:

I only go in for the giant marrow (described as "a joke class" in above book) and heaviest dish of potatoes, and if you're into giant veg this is the book:

I too, only grow for eating and have found that often the smaller veg has more flavour. i think that size is often due to water and thus dilutes flavour.
