Kaffir lime plant
« on: January 12, 2010, 18:17 »
I was given a kaffir lime plant for my birthday and although it came with instructions, I really don't want to kill it.

It's obviously a citrus, so I know about the soil.  How much water do they need in winter?  When do they need repotting?  Any other hints and tips welcome please.

It's in an unheated bedroom, by the window for now.
Cheese makes everything better.

That's a great birthday present Ice  :D

I'm sure the info link tells you everything you need to know about looking after it too.

Two things I thought I'd just mention
-- don't panic if some leaves fall off as they grow back well
-- and the leaves are great in thai curry  :D :D

That's the problem, I might panic if it starts to look unhealthy.  As an enthusiastic cook I know what it's used in.  It was just such a thoughtful present from someone I love dearly, I feel a responsibility.

Don't panic --post a photo and as thought by magic an answer will arrive  ;)

Of course it might not be the right answer

Odd you have had no fruit yet

Are they named varieties, or grown from seed?
