Something Different

If you fancy trying a new climber this summer, could I suggest 'Cobaea Scandens'? ~I grew this last year - 2 plants in a half barrel with a willow support. It was a little like Jack and the Beanstalk, they grew and grew and I did wonder if they would ever flower, well they did flower, in fact they flowered their little socks off - beautiful cream coloured buds that opened almost overnight into stunning purple bells. The plants kept going until the first really heavy frost at the beginning of December. I got my seeds from Sarah Ravens website but I've also seen then in the Suttons and Chiltern Seeds catalogues. I can't wait to grow them again this summer - I promise you won't be disappointed if you do decide to try them!

It also goes by the common names of cathedral bells and cup and saucer vine. Very pretty.
