shallots

hi just looked in my sack of shallots and a few have started sprouting. do i keep them in the sack in a cool place for now? and when should i plant them? many thanks

Shallots can be planted in autumn and over wintered or planted in spring. As yours are already growing they are probably to tender to plant out in this cold weather. I would plant them in pots and keep them in a cool place until the weather improves and gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions before planting them out. They should be fine after that.

Hi Dave105e,
 I planted mine in pots in the garrage on Boxing Day, it has a perspex roof so they get plenty of light, they were putting out roots after a week, as soon as the ground is back to normal I will be planting them out. My onion seedlings are doing fine along side them.
