I'm really pleased I started this thread, but interesting comments anyway , the vast quantitiy of snails and sluggies I had last year will need loads of attention if they make a guest appearance this growing season

im in the process of building a walk in brassica cage, problem is the ground is rock hard so i cant dig in the posts and debris netting, like the OP my brassicas got decimated by mrs white and her children last summer, nothing survived at all.

well the netting worked a charm for me, twas a bit of a rummage around getting it off to weed etc but much better than picking lots of the old cat pills off-hey whats op stand for

Problem with building a cage is that you'll need to move it each year, unlike a fruit cage.

The cage is going to be fully dismatleable for the winter, so we can move it each season.Sorry about my abbreviations, i sometime forget others don't know all the internet words.

well permanent for summer months lol. we have a very clay like soil. so dig them in 2 foot or so and it sets like concrete, come winter it all gets mushy and they come out like butter.
