On a more serious note though Lizzie do let us know how he is after his next visit to the vets as it can't be much fun for him xx

He has an appointment on thursday, but im ringing tomorrow as its spreading to his ears. I phoned last week as i was worried it wasnt getting better, the vet assured me we would see an improvement after the second lot, but im going to ask for a second opinion, or some painkillers at least.. he is a lovely little thing aswel :(

Ringing for further advice sounds a good idea tbh, as by Thursday he might be in more pain

Hi, well after a phoneall to the vets, i popped him up there this afternoon....she agreed it had got worse, and instead of giving him topical drops, she gave him an injection of ivermectin, but said she thought something else was going on aswel....wait for it....ringworm :( :( Where the bloomin heck has he got that from, and thank goodness im strick with the kids about washing their hands.....so , now ive got rid of the fleece that he had in his bed, everything has been disinfected, he has newpaper so we can burn it!And he has some shampoo hat we have to use on him twice a week. She said bathing a guinea pig isnt easy, i said where does it compare to bathing a chicken?, she said'fair point, you should be fine :D
Ok, i want to get one thing straight, i REFUSE to have another year like last year, so if anything else needs to go wrong can i just have it now...hit me with it...we will get it all over and done with in january so i can enjoy the rest of the year

oh Lizzie, poor you and poor little piggy. Why does getting new pets never go smoothly for you? Hopefully his new treatment will soon have him sorted out. Hope you manage to bath him ok xx

Don't worry bathing guinea pigs is easy peasy

They usually love water and paddle about quite happily, and don't mind water being poured over them either.

We used to rough dry ours with a towel and then hairdryer until perfectly dry. Mind the bits without much fur in case the skin gets to warm, that's all  :D :D

Glad the vet found out what else was going on too  :)

Well my little piggir is looking so much better! As i put before i took him back early because he looked much worse. The vet thought he had ring worm and told me to bath him twice a week until the hair sarted to come back. I was gutted for him....anyway, i wasnt convinced about the ringworm and didnt bath him as was initially told the ivermectin wouldnt work till he had his second dose so i thought i would give that a chance to work....im so glad i did! less than a week after his second dose of ivermectin for mites, he is covered in a lovely fine fuzz of new hair and all the sores have nearly gone :D so it couldnt have been ring worm and must have been the mites afterall!! just pleased he is getting better.....1 more dose and that should be it :D. Thanks to everyone who gave me fab advice and help- very much appreciated :D
