I don't trust wikipedia that much Dave to be honest, I think woodlice would eat young plants all that nice soft tissue, not far off from decaying matter really.

I get them in the bottom of pots they don't eat the plants but i think if they are eating your compost due to undecomposed bits then it could disturb the roots sufficiently to kill off young plants....if you put a bit of fine mesh  over  the holes it keeps them out.

You sweep them up and post them to me.  My chooks would be very pleased Annie

my plot neighbour borrowed my weeding torch for the woodlice he found under a sheet of black teram.
They fried nicely and I am told from other sources that they taste very nice too - not only for chooks

Woodlice munching..... marigolds?
Sally - you can have some of mine - I have heaps of them and I suspect they're responsible for eating my marigolds (which look like they've been grown as 'standards'  :x  Fuchsias maybe, but I'd like nice bushy marigolds!

I put organic slug stoppa down (despite not having seen a slug or snail in this garden yet  :D ), so I can only assume it's the woodlice - as I said there are loads of them. One of my courgette plants has been nibbled too...

I`ve just planted out some marigolds by thetomatoes but they`ll have to take their chances with rain like this. The Growing Sucess slug pellets(blue ones)do seem to work well so far even in the rain,I`m impressed so far.
