Sneezing chicken - help plz!
« on: December 26, 2009, 11:41 »
Son just heard our Columbian Blacktail/Calder Ranger 'Tasty' sneeze!!!   :(

So went to check the girls who seem   to my uneducated eye ok - looked at their eyes, beaks etc - nothing obvious - but will keep an eye on them.

Any suggestions other than watching and giving ACV & C/spice - should I put her in isolation now or let her stay with others (Cell Block 'H'/ Isolation ward not particularly warm for this time of year so would be reluctant to use for fear it might make her worse possibly without extra warmth)

Thanks in anticipation (& hoping its nowt serious!!!)

hi birds can just sneeze the same as humans it doesnt always mean anything they could very well just be clearing thier nostrils , do as you are doing and keep a close eye on them if there is any runny noses or bubbly eyes then they will need antiboitics from a vet a.s.a.p  .

You could try Citricidal from Omlet?
I had a hen that was otherwise healthy yet had a sneeze - this cured it.

as Karlooben says, watch out for other symptoms though, which could indicate something worse. Good luck  ;)

Hey there!

We have a poland hen that sneezes occasionally. Took her to the vets and was told is just one of those things.  She is fine in herself and has not affected the other birds.  As others have said though, keep an eye out for further symptoms :D
