  got chickens out this morning and one is sat down and just moving its head round  and round, hardly moving and has a bad leg so cant get about very well. any help please or is it to late for her

Hi Rocks,

Your bird sounds very poorly, was the leg problem an injury? you will need to have a careful feel to see whether it is hot, swollen or red.
You mention the head, moving around, that could be a sign of stress or related to the leg problem ie a neurological problem as apposed to an injury, jumping of the perch etc
I think the best thing is to remove her from your flock in a quiet cardboard box with some feed and water  and bedding- (add a baby dispersible aspirin to her water) so at least she is warm and comfortable, then phone round a couple of local vets for treatment. Try and find a large animal/farm vet surgery they will be experienced in poultry and costs will be reasonable.

         leg not swollen, just keeps holding it stiff. perch only a couple of inchs of floor so dont no wots happened. thanks

What breed is she ?  How old is she ?  Have you had her for long ?
