We've got our fair share up here, luv it  :)

They are already in our local B&Q, so I presume they are out nationally.

Places like Wilko will stock them just after Christmas, and usually sell out really quickly

Fryers Garden Centre in Knutsford has them in January - not enough room at present because of the all the Christmas decorations about.

B & Q Macclesfield have these out now, so I presume B & Q nationally?

At least 10 varieties, in 2kg bags, 2 for £6 which isn't bad...I did notice Brookside is £6.99 postage for >2kg...so if you are near B & Q you can save this...

Think I'm only going for 10 or so of a few diff types though, so may order postally, then top up locally if needed.

Cheers,

Phill  :) :)

I think it's far too early to be getting seed spuds.  Mine never go into the ground before March and you only start chitting them (in a light cool place to develop strong sprouting shoots) a few weeks before that.

Our spuds through the allotment shop won't be delivered until the end of January.

The terms early / maincrop / lates relate to the length of time before harvesting and not the time of planting; they can all be planted at the same time.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Like you, Yorkie, I'm wondering what's making folk so desperate this year to get hold of them.

3 months is a long time in the chitting world.

It's a ploy by the big stores. By some now, go back later to replace them.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I agree, end of January/February is plenty early enough.

There is just no need for shops to stock seed potatoes at this time of year.
It is the same old story with them that they always want to be the first to get potatoes in stock. With this years weather I am sure it will cause many disappointments for people who can't store their seed properly.

When are you expecting to ship out next year? My local garden centre buys from you and last year they we late because of the weather, is it looking bad again this year?
