can i eat eggs if growers pellets have been eaten?
« on: December 10, 2009, 21:00 »
i wonder if someone could help me with a little issue please.
one of my laying girls sneaked under the netting into my chicks' pen and has helped herself to some growers pellets.  I've been told that i can't eat eggs from her now till the stuff has passed through - but her eggs look the same as the rest of the girls' and i dont like to waste all their hard work!
I've checked the ingredients in the pellets and they contain copper and sodium selenite - the other stuff sounds normal.  Is this harmful to us please
 ???

Growers pellets, unless organic or Smallholders range usually contains an anti cocci medication. Thus the eggs would not be reccomended for eating, however, with such a small amount if it was me, I wouldn't worry! :D
