collars for lettuce?

hi peeps.
lettuces doing good, BUT some of the bottom leaves are going soggy and manky due i assume to touching the ground. do i need to make up some collars like for cabbages? would it help at all? ill just be cutting them out of poly sheet or something.

Waste of time mate. Just remove soggy leaves from salad bowl varieties (which I'd assume they are)

I'd agree with WG....you tend to lose a few of the outer leaves so not a problem.

Cos ones do well in pop bottles cut off
