I sit on a bench with a few pieces of bread in my hand and grab any hen that jumps up onto my lap. I tried chasing them around the lawn and throwing netting over them, but this did not work too well.

Hi
if you could try and round one up by using a long broom and steering it into a shed then you can quickly shut the doors and it will be easier to pick them up once in a confined place, the more you pick them up the better they will be mine just crouch and stick their wings up and almost shake, very strange indeed  :nowink:  but thats chickens for you

Trying to picture how to catch a chicken without using hands??  Don't know, I just grab mine.

They make it easy because they squatt if I approach and touch their backs, then it's dead easy to pick them up.

I think if I couldn't catch one, I'd use corn to get them closer.

Foolproof method is to wait till they are roosting, then while they are sleepy, they are very easy to pick up.

i agree with flowerpot, we give any medication, or treatments at night, when they are easy to catch off the perch
