Can anyone recommend a shed Radio?
« on: November 22, 2009, 16:31 »
Our shed has been up & running for a couple of months now, and DH bought a cheap radio off ebay, but the sound and battery life wasn't up to much.

Can anyone recommend a good radio that's on the cheap-ish side?

I bought myself a real cheapie, wind-up radio from T*sco. I think it was aroundabout £7.
A couple of mins frantic winding is good for close on an hour of radio waffle time.....

the sound certainly 'aint brilliant, but at that price it's worth it so I don't need to buy batteries ;)

I bought a 'value' one from tesco, cost about £5 or £6 i think. seems good on batterys to and i can hear it anywhere on my plot.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Have you tried a radio SHACK,

We use an 2gig MP3 which also  holds one heck of a lot of our CD's, only thing is you need earphones, the radio reception is good though

Get down to your local car boot sale &get an old car stereo&12 volt  battery.
  I got an fm radio/cd player for £1.50 and i gave £4 for  a brand new "hobby"battery.
An old speaker from from a mate &i  was sorted.
In the summer when im over the plot almost every day with the radio on i have to bring the battery home every 10_14 days to charge it for a couple of hours.
Cheap as you like&not something thats likely to get nicked.

I have a tiny radio I stick in my pocket - it has ear-phones so no one else has their peace and quiet disturbed by "Gardeners' Question Time" or the afternoon play - at the same time I can pretend I can't hear my neighbour yaking on at me all the time..... nice chap but I'm not the only one who ducks or goes deaf when he's around!  ::)

Recharges and holds a charge for 36 hours - no batteries  ;)

DAB radios eat batteries so I'd buy a cheap conventional one and not a cheap digital one.
