Dug up me raspberries!
« on: November 20, 2009, 14:55 »
I have dug my autumn fruiting raspberry canes up from the garden with the intention of transferring them to the allotment but after visiting the plot today it resembles an interesting new water feature so any digging or planting is out of the question at the mo.  Could anyone advise me what to do with them while I am waiting (clean answers only please), Can I store them or do I need to pot them up in compost?

Thanks

Dig a trench and pop them in that for the moment: you don't have to bother spreading the roots outs, but firm the soil a bit, to keep roots damp.

I know it's off topic but i think the question has been answered for Debbie, so...

Have you had this awful weather as well?

We just seem to have had rain every day for as long as I can remember.  Everything is sodden and I am soddin fed up of it >:(  Having said that today has been quite pleasant and has not rained - yet!  I believe there is more on the way though.

Lancashire has had so much rain that a lot of it has managed to get over t'hill to Yorkshire (usually the drier side)
