Hi I've had my girls about a week now - I know it's early days, but can I expect any eggs before spring, or shall I let my liitle ones down gently, and tell them probably not till spring.  I don't mind just wondered, they are going out every morning to check bless them.

You've got more chance of eggs before Christmas if they are hybrids than if they are purebreeds I think Rachel.  Purebreeds don't usually lay well in the winter, but young hybrids might.

I'm waiting for nearly all my purebreeds to start laying.  only 1 of 26 youngsters has started, and she only lays 1 egg every 2 or 3 days!

Not a stupid question Rachel, everyone of us had to be a 'newbie' at some time, and we are all learning something new every day!!
