Lumps and bumps advice please
« on: November 07, 2009, 18:27 »
Most of my new arrivals from the battery farm are doing well but I'm a tad worried about two of them  :(.
One has a large, egg shaped lump below the vent which feels soft. Is this a prolapse? She seems well in herself despite her name (Scraggy ) and is eating well.
Another has a lump on her chest to the right - very red. The others have feathers here so I can't really tell if she's the same as them - I think I can feel similar bumps on them though not as big. She also has a smaller lump at tha back, like Scraggy. She often sits hunched and is scareder (?) than the others. She is eating and I think she laid an egg two days ago.
I'm having problems uploading pics so apologies if this post all haywire  :(

OOps. Number one above is of a red area around Mary Jane's vent that doesn't seem to be clearing - it got a lot better and then no further improvement.
Here (hopefully) is Scraggy's bum and a shot of MJ looking miserable.
She always looks miserable.
Always has.

The second pic appears to me to be her crop bulging from having being eating :) Nothing to worry about, the others will have the same just like you say not as obvious as they are feathered :)

The vent looks ok to me on the other pic too Hb, if she had prolapsed you would be able to see her insides popping out of her vent :)

Where abouts are you in North Wales HBilly?  If your worried and not too far away I could pop over and give them the once over to put your mind at rest :)
