Yet more gooseberries
« on: October 31, 2009, 22:53 »
Can anyone tell me if goosegogs are self-pollinating? I have 3 different ones arriving and I'm worried the berry colours won't be true if they cross pollinate.
Same for currants....

No need to worry about cross pollination.

I am fairly sure they cross pollinate but all it means is that seed from the fruit would not produce bushes like the parent.

The fruit remains true to the variety. That is why new fruit bushes are produced from cuttings.
