Bought a Covina 12 a while back

have plugged it in to see how it works and see that maintains temperature, but the instructions are somewhat vaque.

The supposed thermometer attached to the inside of the dome which is nigh on impossible to read as the plastic dome is kinda opaque and the thermometer liguid is silver and difficult to see for sure.

there is as far as I can see a small adjustment screw in the cap for altering the temp but no guage as to how far to turn screw in relation to how much it raises or lowers the temp

Is there any way of putting the probe of an external digital thermometer in there to sit at egg level???

I dare say its possible,  might involve drilling a small hole in  the outer plastic casing which I was trying to avoid.

but even then,      what temperature am I trying to maintain ?

then go by your eggs - if they hatch a day early, drop it by half to one degree, if a day late, raise it by half to degree. I think its the sort of question that would receive lots of different figures, but I can only tell you what I do. Its the humidity which is more crucial I think. Also, depends on the temperature and humidity of the room its in, make sur it doesnt have large fluctuations, draught etc, and so long as its fairly constant, you should be fine.

Well,
have been running the thing for over ten days  now and have come to the conclusion its RUBBISH 

I've kept two different little dial type thermometers in the bottom where the eggs would sit and cant get the temp above 25C,   

I've even been checking the  temperature of the water in the bottom with the type of digital thermoter you'd stick under your tongue as I believe this would be a more accurate instrument ?

In the cap is a small screw head for supposed adjustment of temperature and I have adusted this one turn each day with no effect on the temperature.

Ambient room temp is a steady 23 degrees (as I swear Im cold blooded)  24hrs a day
