Hi, I planted my New potatoes on the 3rd of march, but they havent showed their faces yet, they are about a foot down  :?  and i have watered them frequently, Anyone know whats up??

Not the tatties !!  seems strange, i planted my arran pilot and pentland javelins in mid march and they are about 3 foot tall now..... did you chit them first? important for earlies I think

A foot downs a bit deep ! go for about 4-6" at the most, saves on the digging them up, thats probably why you haven't seen them yet

Don't water them any more in case they rot - dig one up and see if it's growing.

like Richy says, sounds like they are a bit deep, some of mine are up, some are't and I did plant osme of them a bit deep, but hopefully, that'll mean we won't hvae to earth them up so much and we'll get loads more tatties!!!!1

i think they should be up now kizza have you had a scrape around to try and find them ?

I would have a scrape and a dig to find out what's happening....they should be up by now.  12inches is a lot for them to reach the light, they may have rotted or used all their resources trying to send up shoots.

seed potatoes, i chitted them. I planted them on the 25th of march, sorry, not the 3rd of march

Maris Peer

[WG.]

Maris Peer is a second early and hence will take a little longer to get through 12" of soil.  I reckon they'll still get there though (unless you have waterlogged ground which could have rotted them).
