Well, the greenhouse on rails is pretty much planted up! George has been planting on the open end today between showers. When the showers came he was taking the shoots off his toms!
I'm quite envious as he has fruit on his vines, mine just has flowers! ???

I have read through the posts and think George is amazing 8)
Just a query why a greenhouse on tracks?

I think we've covered his reasons, but he only intends to move it twice a year. Saves a lot of planting out, just push the thing along!
Alford aye? Mis-spent most of my youth there; Ritz cinema, Bill's cafe and Black Bobs!

George says he would appreciate opinions on pulling the greenhouse over the chrysants, leaving the ends off for ventilation thereby not losing some in storms. Of course this will mean watering!
Part of his irrigation system went missing the other night; a ladder supporting guttering from tub to tub. See....  http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=58641.0

Just to keep the ball rolling I took this today. He's filling his greenhouses even before fitting the glass!

One of those things that comes up at commitee meetings is the amount of cultivated land.
George was at pains to show me that he even cultivates his bags of compost, with almost ready spuds in one and flowers in another! :)
You can see two of his main greenhouses which house tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and an amazing irrigation system even Heath Robinson would be proud of! 8)

Fantastic photos. His potatoes look to be very healthy!

Does he grow geraniums for competitions too? They look lovely. They must be great for greenhouses with toms in - the smell of the leaves must deter pests.

Plus, now that you've raised the subject, you have to tell us more about the irrigation system.

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.
