Fleece the icebergs
« on: October 20, 2009, 13:48 »
My mini icebergs are doing well some being ready to pick.  They are outside in the old enormous potato pot.  I was wondering as the weather has turned suddenly and got much colder do you think I should fleece them.  Can't move the pots too big and heavy.  The pots are sheltered against the living room wall.  I know these ones have quite a long life in the fridge so will pick what I can but several are yet to heart up a bit.

As they are tucked up against a wall I would be inclined to leave them unfleeced.  I guess that moisture held in by the fleece would do them more harm than cold.

If they are at home you could fleece them at night only,a and uncover them in the morning  :)

Nah these are tasty compared to supermarket ones.  They are minis a little larger than a tennis ball.  Grow better and stand longer than my other cos lettuces.  I have other lettuces as well which are now finished.
