Just to confuse the topic - couple of us put our spring cabbages out just like the book told us to do, just when the book told us to and the weather has caused them to shoot off. Now other bloke has been growing cabbages far longer than me so I don't feel so bad.

I put mine out same time last year and they were bedraggled till very late spring and suddenly came away in a hurry.

Nature seems to be determined not to keep the rules here.
