Will do thanks guys, am going to finish a little earlier now at 2.15. Also found a vet near us that deals with chooks and they are open all day tomorrow and sunday.

I'm so grateful for this website and all your nice comments, don't know what I would have done without it  ::)

Oh what a rotten day for you!  So glad you are going home early.

We have had our ex batt girls for less than 3 weeks and one was attacked on Monday by one of our dogs, we were distraught thinking she wouldn't make it but she is happily destroying the last of the runner bean plants in the veg patch and is as sprightly as ever.

Hang in there, they are tough little cookies!  Fingers crossed here too...
1 lovely hubby, 3 dogs, a bunny and 7 ex batts and a shiny new lottie!  (so far)

I'm praying for you and your hens.  Try that website out in the meantime.  It might give you some peace of mind.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Well I got home after a near heart attack and they are fine, I feel like such an idiot  honey still does have a croaky voice though (although not as bad as this morning) so that will need to be sorted but otherwise she's fine, i let them out in the garden and they went crazy scratching around and ruining all my plants as usual.

Don't know what was the matter with the other one this morning though as they were both just sitting there not moving. I must be extra paranoid after honey being so poorly the other day. Maybe it was just because it was cold and they were still tired?

I feel like a right tit, sorry to get everyone so worried  my husband even came through on the way back to work as he'd been out on a job, i feel rather guilty as I'd been so mean to him earlier coz i didn't think he cared.

Well I really am still new to all this with much to learn. Sorry to have worried everyone and thanks for all your lovely comments earlier

Hey, your girlies are OK, that's all that matters!

If you have any further doubts though, I'd take them straight to the vet.  Just hope it's not like when I had to rush Mavis to the vet - on a Bank Holiday!  Cost a fortune  :)

Chickens seem to be a strange combination of tough cookies and creatures that go downhill really fast.  Reading on here, some seem to survive against all the odds and others just keel over.

Better to feel a bit silly then not be worried at all - shows you care!

I'm so glad they are ok.  :D

It's horrible when any of your animals are poorly and you have to go to work and worry about them.

Still feel like a fool but so relieved they're ok  I've phoned the vets about honey's horse voice and am waiting for someone to call me back, hopefully it'll just be a dose of antibiotics :)

Thanks for your kind words.

I don't drive and its an hour on the bus to get home, even if I left an hour early I still wouldn't be home before my husband could pick me up from work.

We are in Ipswich, thanks for the offer but I think my mother in law is going round later although I'm just dreading her call to say they are dead  :(

I thought maybe honey had something stuck but the fact that one of the others seems poorly as well doesn't make sense although there doesn't seem to be any sneezing or runny nose and their eyes look fine.

Hi! Don't know which vet you use, but when I lived in Ipswich I used Highcliff vets in Ellenbrook Green....always saw Simon 'cos he's a brilliant vet and  :D keeps chooks himself and is very empathetic!!
