What age would you think my Tippi is?

She was apparently 16 weeks when we got her and we've had her five weeks    The place we got her from gets new flocks in at 15 weeks of age and they'd had them a week. Which would make her 21 weeks  , but her comb seems rather small for that age and she looks nowhere near laying. She's a Copper Black Maran hybrid.

I would guess at 17-18 weeks but without a sibling its hard to tell if she is late developer.

My speckled sussex has hardly any comb. She's 22 weeks and the rest of her looks very hen like.

She looks very like my hens which are Suffolk Noirs, a cross between Rhode Island Red and Copper Black Maran.  I would also say 17 to 18 weeks old.  However, one of mine laid her first egg when her comb was growing but still black.  The other two laid when their combs were red.

Ice - Tippi is the same cross as yours. They called them Merrydale Copper Blacks, where she came from as she came from Merrydale Poultry.

My three were meant to be the same age but definately were not.  Lovely dark brown eggs, not huge but very tasty.
