Yes but

I dont have huge area to plough

I only want to turn the soil from a depth that the rotovator doesn't reach, not pulverise it ( i saw the youtube link earlier)

And they are quite pricey

So what should I have done to attribute Frankie's comment - more than cut n' paste obviously.

To plough more than 6or7" would take a very big tractor.

My out fit is on a par with the BCS and to plough more than 6" is not possible. the rotavator will go to 10" but only after several passes.

a plough is great for turning the weeds under and wintering.

Here's the plough fitted to my DM.

Part-way through.

That's a well-trained pigeon I've got!

Finished.

Amazing what paint'll cover up isn't it.

I'm obviously expecting to be able to do anything approaching remotely heavy work with this, but if it will help turn the soil over and put in some nice furrows for me tater, I'll be happy.
Plus, it was a chance to play with me MIG welder, which is always fun :D
Blimey! You mean you can *grow* things in soil?

I tried it out just using the tines and it seemed to work OK. I've got a set of rubber wheels waiting for a mate to turn up a pair of sleeves so I can fit them in place of the tines but I think I might struggle to get it to move forward at a sensible speed as the tines rotate quite quickly. To be honest, I'd be happy with it working the way it does now. :D
I'll take the camera to my allotment next time I go and get some pics of the furrows. :)

the instructions for the M1 recommend using the tines to pull the banker.

Quick update on the DM. I've been searching for a new drive belt, even tried the much-vaunted Bearing Supplies at Norwich, and everyone keeps giving me Kevlar vee belts without teeth, which the DM doesn't like, whilst charging about £6-10 for 'em.
Did a Google on 'Flymo DM' tonight and found an old thread on here which mentioned A20 or AX20 belt. Googled 'Vee Belt Supplier' and blow me if I didn;t find two suppliers who say they hold stocks of AX20 belts (the A20 is plain, the AX20 is toothed/cogged), for about £3!! :x
Needless to say, come payday I'm orderin' one!
I've used the DM twice now for breaking up parts of the allotment and it works OK, but you do need a couple of goes over the same area to really break it up. I might try adding some weight as I feel it's too light to really cut into the soil.
I'm also gonna make either an exhaust extention or a new silencer as the fitted one directs the exhaust gas straight at you and you stink to high heaven after an hour or so's use.
That apart, it's a brilliant little tool and, while I wouldn't say no to a nice Honda like this one I'm idly watching on Ebay, I doubt one'll turn up for £35 like this one did so I'll stick with it.
If anyone's ever consigning a DM to the skip, please let me know first :D

Hi browser, I dont know of any rotavator that will finnish the job in one pass. Even with a tractor you have to plough first then you would use a power harrow or rotavator. each would need several passes depending on the condition of the soil. So dont be to hard on the DM if it takes a few passes to get the fine tillth you want.
