Have hardly had a drop here.  Couple of light showers and that's it.

Poor  rainfall here...  had to go up to plot and water my freshly planted toms, cougettes and sweetcorn today!
Whole of April we had just 0.6mm of rain!!  I am not sure that is even measureable!

We had some rain during the night that changed the colour of the gruond, then a shot shower just after lunch lasted all of 3 minutes!!!!  So everything still dry.

Annie you must have had some rain today surely , we are in the lee of the hills so maybe thats why the clouds emptied on our plot, it was quite wild and windy around midday, still need more though if its going to do more than settle the dust, the soil is so dry its soaked it up like blotting paper.

Corndolly,at around midday OH and Small Person  and dog walked to town(3 miles),I had to meet them with complete change of clothes before we could go for lunch,so garden and family thoroughly watered! It has  been sunny the rest of the afternoon with black clouds going over head so I am in hopes of more rain!

Aunt Sally

I'm convinced that we are the victims of the "Medway Effect".  I've been travelling to London on the train for 6 years now and I have often noticed that Medway has different weather to the surrounding country.  I think that this is because of the hills to the back and the large body of water in the estuary.

Yesterday SWMBO and I came back from Whitstable.  There were downpours all the way back.  When we got within sight of Medway there was an estuary-shaped patch of blue sky above the Towns, and as we swung past the allotment it was clear that there had been some rain but nothing like as much as what other parts of Kent were getting.

It would be interesting to try and gather more evidence for this effect.

Proper rain at last!  Just in the last few minutes, it bucketed down here, but although the skies are black, it looks like its stop again already!!!!

So it may be on its way down to Maidstone Aunty!!!! and hopefully the rest of the south east Oscar!!!!
