Hi,

Couple of the two day old chicks seem to be walking strange compared to the others,
slipping and just really clumsey, is this a leg problem, it seems so,  or just normal for chicks.

Any comments ?

What surface do you have them on? If it is too slippy they find it hard to keep their legs under them and can end up with permenent problems. I use old tea towels for the first couple of days and then they are on bedding.

Hi as Kate has said it could be the surface they are on, put them on a non slip surface and see if they can stand up , if not they may have splayed legs - dislocated hips, it is completely cureable if treated.

You will need to put an elastic band which has been tied with two little loops that you can put their legs in to hold them together, some of the others on here use plasters not sure how they do it but that seems to work just as well.

I using paper towels, the others dont seem to have a problem, when should I be worried
and maybe look into other options.
