Now that the shortbread and mince pies in the country are safely hidden, you might want to look after whatever made it's way into the cities and villages!    Especially if you see scarecrows lurking about  ...  That's a dead give away in the city  .

Do we need to get some non alcoholic 'bubbles' or English sparkling wine to  offer in case there are some that won't want the Cava I'm sourcing at the moment.

I've been round all the shops today looking for the best offer on Cava so we can have some 'bubbles' with our breakfast.  The best offer is in Tesco at £5.45 a bottle, if you buy six you get an extra 10% off, so I've gone for the six!   In the Co-op  it's £7 a bottle.    Spent most of the afternoon making the alternative to prawn and avocado cocktail for starter, roasted carrot and tomato soup with garlic croutons.  It needs to cool down now so that I can whizz it in the blender and then get it in the freezer.

Maybe Aunty will let it go as it’s nearly Christmas.  Bake some of your scones and get the kettle on and she’ll soon forget all about telling you off
