 Could someone please tell me why my hens wont eat sweet corn.  From what I read on here everyone else's hens love them.

They may not have seen it before.

How are you feeding it to them? On a plate with meat and two veg (not chicken I hope).
Try giving them tomato sauce it help stick the sweet corn to there forks.

mine go mad for it! have only given it to them on the cob cause they seem to love pecking it all off ,they even share!

That's a puzzle to me newhen, all my chooks love sweetcorn, on or off the cob.  but like roughlee said, perhaps they've not seen it before??

Hi newhen, I wouldn't worry too much, my girls dont like corn either (raw, on the cob, tinned, dried, split etc) but they go mad for wheat!

If I put out a dish of mixed grain they pick out everything and leave the corn.  No doubt next year I'm going to have maize plants spring up all over the place where they've chucked it out of the bowl!

There's a long list of things mine won't eat but it seems everyone else's chicken do! including sweetcorn. Discovered by accident yesterday they love cheese, (it fell out of my sandwich).

mine love tinned corn, and corn on the cobb, but not so keen on the dried stuff. they will of course 'force' it down if they have nothing else

Please be aware at salt is bad for hens and so NO processed foods.

young hens can be a bit scared of new foods, mine wouldn't go near the first cabbage I hung up for them but after a couple of days, once one brave soul had had the first peck they went mad for it.
