Hi,

I grew a couple of aubergine plants in the greenhouse and they were very healthy, lots of flowers and I pollinated by hand which resulted in quite a few fruits, but although they were a dark purple when small, as they grew a bit bigger the colour grew pale and eventually green.  None of them grew very big so I assumed they were not ready for picking. Any idea what went wrong?

What variety were they? Some end up green

Glad this has come up because I was given an aubergine plant , and mine's been green all the way through - one of them is now the size of a tennis ball :blink:.  I wasn't sure what to do either .

My aubergines all started the same colour they ended up. I think if yours have started green they are probably green aubergines and you'll have a long wait if your expecting purple!
